Shizhu Temple
Apr. 1st, 2021 06:41 pmWelcome to the Temple of the Crown Prince of Xianle
You've found yourself in a modest, but well-kept temple, dedicated to a little-known god, the Flower-Crowned Martial Prince of Xianle. Red lanterns decorate the entrance, and the establishment plaque above the doors is written in beautiful calligraphy. To the right, an inset window, with several charms and talismans on display, as well as incense or small offerings to be used inside. There are no marked prices, but any of the objects are available, says a notice, though we do ask your kind donations and prayers in return. As you enter, the scent of incense permeates the air, gentle and soft. The decor is fairly minimal, and it does seem slightly odd that there are no places to bow or prostrate oneself to pray, but the helpful staff will insist you're welcome to worship any way you like, but it's not necessary to make such obeisances.
There's a large altar, dusty white and gold, littered with plates for making offerings, as well as censers, sticks of incense sending up thin wisps of smoke. Behind the altar, and perhaps the most noticeable upon entering is a large statue depicting the Crown Prince. He's strikingly beautiful, dressed in heavenly raiment, and wielding a sword in one hand, while a flower rests in the other. The sculptor's work is masterful, breathing life to stone in such a way that one can feel the warmth of the Prince's smile and a kindness in his eyes.
And if, perhaps, one of the temple workers bears an uncanny resemblance, it's just a coincidence, of course.

- Are you in need of help? Protection? The Flower-crowned Martial God will certainly listen to your prayers. (You can always leave one below, or in Xie Lian's inbox. If you pray here, he will surely hear it!)
- Charms and protection talismans are readily available, imbued with the Crown Prince's power
- Donations and offerings are greatly appreciated, but never required.

CHARACTER NAME: Xie Lian
CHARACTER SERIES: Tian Guan Ci Fu / Heaven Official's Blessing
[Physical Description]
Height: 178 cm
Frame: athletic
Features: Eyes are brown/amber, Hair is dark brown, almost black. Often described as very good-looking or handsome, but slightly effeminate.
Distinguishing Characteristics: Xie Lian has a band that looks like a tattoo circling his neck and another at his right ankle. Both are almost certain to be covered by clothing or scarves.
[OOC Permissions]
Backtagging:Totally fine, if it starts to interfere with current threads (as far as new information reveals, important events, etc) I may ask to wrap it up or plot around it.
Threadhopping: I prefer not to, but if needed for plot reasons, just ask.
Fourthwalling: Seeing as there are plays, fanfic, and other things about him in his own canon, it wouldn't be out of place, so go for it.
[IC Permissions]
Hugging this character: He's pretty friendly, so most likely yes, unless you've got some crazy killing-intent and malicious vibes. PM to plot if you're not sure.
Kissing this character: Check first. If you're not Hua Cheng, you're not likely to get close enough to try it
Flirting with this character: It won't go well, but you can try.
Fighting with this character: You're welcome to try. Xie Lian is extremely unlikely to pick a fight unless repeatedly provoked. (See powers for details)
Injuring this character: It's possible, but I'd prefer to discuss fights and outcomes before-hand.
Killing this character: Extremely unlikely. Xie Lian is immortal and 99% of mortal wounds won't kill him. I'm open to discussion if it's for plot reasons, but no permadeath.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: You'll have a very difficult time speaking to him telepathically without his password. (see powers for details)
[Powers]:
- Xie Lian is a martial god, which means he ascended to godhood because his fighting skills were just that good. When it comes to combat, he's unmatched, he is proficient in a wide variety of weapons, specializing in the sword, but even unarmed, he is more than formidable.
- Because he's a god, he's also immortal. He doesn't age, and can suffer mortal wounds without dying(though that isn't to say he doesn't feel pain or can't be killed). Gods can still be killed, though it usually requires their body be completely destroyed.
- Extremely high pain tolerance. This is less of a super power and more that he has suffered a lot of horrible painful things and now he's fairly numb and unbothered by things like large gashes, stab wounds, broken bones, or stepping on nails.
- He is very strong. Can lift a couple tons no prob, break through walls, fight for days without tiring much, leap tall buildings, move very fast and agile, etc.
- Xie Lian can use magic. His specific type of 'magic' is about manipulating energy/mana/chi/etc. In canon, this magic is used for(but not limited to) things like:
* Blasting opponents
* Moving objects (as small as shutting a door, or as large as controlling a 20-story stone statue like a giant mecha)
* Creating barriers
* Flying, by riding on a sword(yes, like a skateboard).
* Making his soul leave his body to possess someone else(only with permission/access granted by the other party).
* Speaking telepathically to others(only with permission/access granted by the other party).
* Transportation magic, teleporting from one location to another by walking through a doorway (specific magic array must be drawn)
* Imbue objects(usually charms or talismans) with protective magic.
- He has a spiritual weapon, Ruoye, which is a long strip of semi-sentient silk that he uses to fight or restrain his opponents.
- DO NOT EAT HIS COOKING. Xie Lian's cooking is so bad that it will actually cause a person to lose consciousness, and in extreme cases, can cause prolonged weakness, dizziness, and speech impediments.
- At the canon point I've picked, his powers are severely dampened due to a curse; he can take and use energy/mana that is given, but he can't cultivate it himself. He also is cursed with absolutely terrible luck. It does not affect his martial skills or his immortality.
